Invoice Dude was founded in November of 2009 by Giga Promoters. It was intended to provide users with a free online invoicing solution. The company’s goal is to make modern technology as easily accessible to all users as possible. After reviewing the existing invoicing solutions at the time, the creators noticed that there was a need for a system that did not require a monthly payment. Shortly after they came up with the many features of Invoice Dude.
Invoice Dude gives users a great deal of flexibility. Perhaps what is most appealing about the application is the many features that are available with the free account. Users can even apply their own color scheme and branding to each invoice, a service most companies usually tack on an additional or subscription fee for.
The Invoice Dude website has a fun, trendy appeal that uses a green, black and blue color scheme. The stylish black and blue logo utilizes a modern font style. Six navigational buttons are found in the narrow black header bar that runs across the top of the page while just below a cartoonish male image smiles with an invoice in hand (possibly the “dude” from Invoice Dude). The user dashboard has a clean design that includes green bars in a graph that depict the current status of accounts. The user can view their status along the right h and side along with quick links and a few add on options.
New users can create an Invoice Dude account by clicking either the blue “On Demand” button or the grey “Self Hosted” button juts beside it near the center of the homepage. The account registration form requires a name, email address, password, subdomain name and company name. The user must also correctly enter the Captcha code provided at the bottom of the form before clicking the green “Register” button to submit their information.
Users who select the on demand version of Invoice Dude are given free access to all current features. There are no subscription fees or premium paid membership options. A self hosted option is available that allows the user to purchase Invoice Dude to host on their own server and integrate into their existing system. This comes in three packages. The first is the Lite version which costs around $75 and provides unlimited invoices, items and clients as well as recurring invoices, estimates and quotes, Paypal payment options, customized email notifications, applicable tax features, invoice tracking, overdue invoice reminders, one year of free support and updates and the ability to import client contacts. The Standard option costs around $125 and includes all the same features plus brand emails and a site footer. The Enterprise option costs around $700 and includes 99% of the source code. Each option requires a one-time payment.
Invoice Dude is a great option for professionals and businesses. The many features coupled with the free access is very appealing to freelancers and small businesses. Larger businesses may prefer to purchase Invoice Dude to customize and host on their own server.
